How do I know a provider is approved for the CHOOSE Act?

Every provider on CHOOSEActAL is listed because it appears on the Alabama Department of Revenue's public list of approved CHOOSE Act education service providers. The platform follows that list as it changes, and a provider that leaves the state's list leaves the directory.

Where the approval comes from

ALDOR approves education service providers for the CHOOSE Act and publishes them in a public list. CHOOSEActAL is built on that list. A provider does not appear on the platform because it asked to or because it paid. It appears because the state approved it.

The list changes through the year as new providers are approved and others leave the program, and the platform follows those changes. On October 24, 2026, ALDOR's list held 1,708 entries, participating schools included.

Why a name can be hard to find

The name on the state's list is the one a provider gave ALDOR, and sometimes that is a company's legal name rather than the name on its sign or its logo. A short, distinctive word from the name usually finds it. So does searching the category and city and scanning the results. Online providers are often listed under the city where the business is registered, which may be outside Alabama.

When a provider is not listed

A provider that is not on the list has not been approved, and CHOOSE Act funds cannot pay it. Ask the provider whether it has applied to ALDOR and when it expects a decision, and hold off on paying until the approval comes through. If a provider tells you it is approved and you cannot find it here, let CHOOSEActAL know so the listing can be checked against the state's list.
